RESIDENT CHEESEL: 3D Announcement

Hello everyone! I'm finally far enough along in development of RC:M's squeakuel to give you all a proper update!!!

Early footage of moushley changing dialogue emotes

Resident Cheesel 3D is a standalone sequel to the first game. It's still a point and click game where you sacrifice clothes to solve puzzles, but there's about 2-3x the amount of content in the game, along with long and awaited ANIMATIONS!!!!

Moushley's "In Love" emote

Your goal is to find a hidden passage within the spooky manor you have arrived at, but circumstances keep causing you to separate from Wolveon and attempt to solve puzzles on your own.

Along the way, you'll be collecting items and getting information about the location you're at. I'm going to try to lean less descriptive on the dialogue text and attempt to use the better visuals you'll get from the 3d medium to help tell the story and give off the vibes.

Some of Moushley's new Outfits

And since you're getting new items, it's only fair if Moushley gets a few new outfits to wear as well!!! The outfits are going to be cosmetic, allowing you to swap them in game whenever you unlock a new one, but you'll still be limited by the clothes you have in order to solve puzzles. Sometimes you will "lose" a layer of clothing either by damage or by sacrificing it to solve a puzzle, that piece of clothing will be unavailable until you get it back in some way. To compensate for this I added two new clothing layers (scarf/bra) to the list (scarf/top/bra/bottom/underwear).

A Storyboard of a planned cutscene

And since it's in 3d, that means I can do more complicated things with the visuals and gags, above is a small example of some storyboards I've cooked up for funny sequences with moushley and co. I'm planning to use these to supplement the enf and revealing clothing events, hopefully adding to the tone of the game and making things feel cooler.

I'm mostly done with the mechanical implementations needed to have the game work from start to finish, things like the save system and puzzle sequences and causing people to emote and camera change at the right times. And I'm around 1/3 of the way done with the writing and scene/map setup. It's nearing the point where I'm ready to have people playtest it.

Some fun GUI elements you can click that represent your clothes!

My current plan is to finish the game, or at least have the first 1/3 to 1/2 fully polished by the end of the year and release sometime in January, either in early access (where it would only remain for around a month, just so I can get some money to pay the bills while I finish it), or as a full release.

Please let me know what you all think based off of what I've said here and shown!!! Would you all be interested in an early access release at a cheaper price (around $4 or $5) for around a month before it is fully completed and the price is raised a bit. I'm thinking the final product will retail somewhere around the $8 to $10 mark given the massive amount of work that went into this and am really interested in getting people's first thoughts about the game!

Have a good one and see you soon!!!

No chance of there being a mobile release right?

I only ask because my only computer is an ancient artifact being a windows 7 laptop. No I am not as old as the relic that's just what I happen to have

Unfortunately this one is in 3d and has more stuff going on under the hood so a mobile release is unlikely

Thought so. Thanks for replying. While I have you you are aware that the Android version of 2d is broken right?

It is explicitly labeled as experimental and many devices are not able to handle it sadly. I attempted to do some more work to get it fixed but could not reliably replicate better results on all devices. This is another reason why this project will not be ported to Android/mobile

Oh ok understood

I'm not ashamed to admit I'd pay for early access, the first one was one of my favorite projects I've checked out this year! Can't wait :)

Damn you Wolveon! You get a sexy mouse searching for you!? All I got was Whiskers beating me up! I had to punch boulders!
